Creatine is the most researched and still one of the most talked about supplements today – over 20 years after it was first introduced to the market! In fact, out of every supplement in sports nutrition history, it’s likely that bodybuilders and other athletes have made more gains from creatine than nearly every other supplement combined. It’s legal in virtually all sports associations too, making it the perfect performance and strength supplement for competitive and tested athletes. It is so essential that it that we would argue that it should be used by everyone looking to build more muscle or increase sports performance. There’s no doubt if you’re not using creatine, you’re leaving gains at the table.
Very few other supplements have this kind of staying power in our industry, and yet creatine is still misunderstood by many and undervalued by others, who treat it like a commodity supplement. But make no mistake – not just any old brand or type of creatine will do. There are still wide variations in creatine quality on the market – and, yes, there is still innovation coming from creatine researchers too.
How Creatine Works
To bring everyone up to speed, creatine works by increasing the availability of an energetic molecule called phosphocreatine (PCr).
PCr is the molecule that allows the body to create your body’s energy currency, adenosine triphosphate (ATP), right inside the muscle for immediate energy. When you take creatine, it enters the circulatory system where it is distributed to your muscle cells. When it reaches your muscle cell membranes, it begins the absorption process via a number of specialized creatine transporters. After it’s absorbed, the creatine combines with ATP to produce PCr within the muscle cells.
Normally, PCr in the muscle cells is rapidly depleted during training, but creatine supplementation increases the body’s ability to produce work by increasing the storage pool of phosphocreatine in your muscles. This enhances the resynthesis of phosphocreatine and ATP production during recovery. In the end, creatine will help you lift heavier weights for longer periods of time – increasing your muscle’ size and strength.
Changing Creatine Supplementation with New Forms of Creatine
In the last 10 years, numerous new forms of creatine have been introduced. Make no mistake, creatine monohydrate (one creatine molecule with one water molecule) is the original form of creatine. In fact, no other form of creatine has been the subject of more studies. However, though creatine monohydrate is the original form of creatine, it’s not perfect. Think about how many things have been perfected on the first try. Not too many. Creatine, like any invention, has undergone some changes and experienced some innovations over the years. Some so-called improvements like creatine ethyl ester flopped. However there have recently been some innovations reviewed by many athletes around the world as improvements over the original. These innovations include two new creatine sources: creatine hydrochloride and free-acid creatine.
Creatine hydrochloride, or creatine HCl, is creatine complexed with hydrochloric acid. Creatine HCl is a cutting-edge, potent form of creatine with unique solubility properties.
Free of acids and salts, free acid creatine is the world’s purest form of creatine. This is because free-acid creatine is 100% pure creatine. In comparison, the average, run-of-the-mill creatine monohydrate is only about 87% pure – meaning that it’s about 87% creatine and 13% water.
This means that free acid creatine delivers the most usable creatine on a gram for gram basis, more than creatine HCl, creatine monohydrate or any other type of creatine available.
The Creactor™ Formula
Creactor™ is the world’s first creatine to feature a 1:1 ratio of creatine hydrochloride and free-acid creatine. Each serving of Creactor has 1500mg from these two novel forms of creatine – and twice the creatine of the leading competitor. With Creactor, you get a full daily dose of creatine with just two servings a day. In fact, Creactor is so versatile you can easily mix it with your favorite protein shake or BCAA drink.
The Creactor™ Advantage
With Creactor™, you get high-quality, 100% ultra-pure creatine HCl and free-acid creatine with absolutely zero fillers, carbs or impurities which are often found in other creatine supplements. It mixes clean and has the versatility to allow you to mix it with other protein, pre-workout or BCAA powders you’re using.
Clinically Dosed, not “Micro Dosed”
Let’s get the facts straight: Creatine “microdosing” or “concentrated dosing” is a marketing gimmick designed by unscrupulous creatine brands to artificially inflate the number of servings that can be labeled on a bottle of their product. In reality, there is no research supporting the efficacy of such low doses of creatine per day. In fact, a 150-pound male can lose about two grams of creatine every day due to it naturally breaking down in the body1. Since most of our readers probably weigh in excess of 150 lbs., you can now see the futility of thinking you’re going to make gains from a creatine powder that is telling you to only take 1500mg a day.
Creactor sticks to the research. And that research – published in the Journal of Applied Physiology – found that a dosage of 3 grams of creatine daily for about a month is required to saturate muscles, resulting in increased muscle strength, increased performance and enhanced muscle size. This is nearly twice the amount recommended by many “concentrated creatine” brands. Creactor provides this full, scientifically-proven dose of creatine with only two daily servings.
With “microdosed” supplements, you need twice the servings each day to get a full, clinical, 3-gram dose! When you’re only getting half the servings of Creactor and half the creatine per serving, it makes no sense to use anything but Creactor.
