Bill Geiger, MA, is a recreational bodybuilder who most recently served a three-year stint as Senior Content Editor and writer with Bodybuilding.com. He penned training article, working primarily with competitive bodybuilders and strength athletes.
Prior to that, Bill spent six years as Group Editorial Director running MuscleMag and Reps magazines in Toronto, working directly under Publisher Robert Kennedy. From 1994 to 2007, he was Editor and Fitness Director with Los Angeles-based Muscle & Fitness magazine. He began as a Senior Copy Editor but was quickly promoted to Editor, a position he held for eight years. During that time he was honored by the Western Publishing Association for Best How-To Article of the Year and was part of the M&F team that earned Most Improved Magazine.
Bill has published hundreds of training and nutrition articles, authored and edited 16 books and special-interest publications, including a best-selling ab book for M&F, and collaborated with Arnold Schwarzenegger on his New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.
Bill received his master’s degree from the University of Southern California, studying sports journalism, physical education, and sports marketing. He’s also worked in the sports-information field, earning five national awards for his media guides and game-day programs at USC and Occidental College. As a sports writer, he’s covered college football, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, and track and field. Bill graduated Phi Beta Kappa with an economics degree from Occidental College in Los Angeles.
Bill enjoys gardening and hiking, especially Glacier and Yosemite national parks. He worked in the press box for 23 years at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum during USC Trojans football games, also covering six Rose Bowls. He also interned with ABC Sports during the Los Angeles Olympics (1984). He has two cats, Fred and Ethel, and a Mal-Shih named Ricky.
